Fit to fly certificate information
Why get a fit to fly certificate?
Planning to travel overseas? In light of the ongoing pandemic, many airlines and countries require certification that you’re fit to travel and do not have COVID-19.
Some countries will accept laboratory test results (from an accredited laboratory only) rather than requiring an additional certificate, although most require a doctor to certify you as fit to travel.
Which countries require tests?
The testing criteria for different countries is rapidly changing. Please confirm your exact requirements with your airline and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office before confirming your appointment.
What time frame should I allow for my test?
The rules and requirements around Fit to Fly Certification varies per country and air line. Make sure you check with the regulations that are specific to your journey before making an appointment.
Where can I take a test?
We offer tests for adults, infants and babies, available at our central London clinic or alternatively at home.
For those wishing to have a home test, please consider the timing of the test closely. We ask that you allow at least 24 hours for your kit to arrive after ordering. We aim to have your kit with you as quickly as possible.
A tracked priority service is used to post your kit and we aim to have it to you as quickly as possible, however we encourage you to allow at least 48 hours for any kits to arrive.
Each kit comes provided with clear instructions and a priority return envelope. We encourage you to consider using a courier to return the sample to the laboratory if it is time sensitive.
If you are not comfortable testing a baby or infant yourself, we strongly recommend the use of our clinic service. A member of our medical team will be able to perform this accordingly on your behalf.
Do you test babies?
Yes, we can test babies, infants and also children of any age at our central London clinic.
How much does the test cost?
Our service includes a package of care including; GP review of your medical history and circumstances, advice and support, COVID-19 PCR swab test, fit to fly certification and results pack, as well as administration and support. Each test package is £195.00 per person (at home tests kits incur an additional £10 fee).
How do I book the test?
Book online now or similarly, you can call our reception team on 0207 236 3334. Our helpful team is on hand to answer any of your enquiries.
Our service limitations
Please consider that some countries may bring in new measures with little notice such as border closures, movement restrictions or quarantine rules. It is your responsibility to ensure you are up to date with the latest guidance and regulations.
Although we will always do all we can to help, we cannot accept responsibility or liability for any costs associated with your travel arrangements, should changing advice affect our service in any way.
We use Royal Mail Tracked 24 for all home test kits. We cannot accept liability for Royal Mail’s delivery service, including any delivery constraints that are out of our control.
If you require certification for a pre-booked flight and wish to undertake a home test, we strongly advise you to plan well in advanced. Also be sure to allow extra time for the delivery of your test kits. Equally, we also strongly recommend you consider using a courier service to deliver your sample to the laboratory.
Furthermore, if your test is time-critical e.g. must be taken with XX hours of the flight, we strongly counsel you to make use of a clinic-based service. Medical appointments are a valid reason for travel during lockdown periods.
It is advised by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to be prepared to stay overseas longer than planned.
